Birkenhead Park Pavilion

Location: Birkenhead
Contractor: Lockwood Limited
Tonnage: 49t

The new Park Pavilion, Birkenhead is being fabricated and erected by EvadX Limited. The design of the building reflects its location and the need for a landmark building for Birkenhead. Ainsley Gommon Architects have incorporated modern technologies, green construction and orientation strategies so as to be environmentally friendly and sustainable. An internal spine wall curves the pavilion and can be viewed through the glazed front façade that looks out to the dark. It will provide exhibition and interpretive spaces, teaching areas and a café, together with office accommodation for the park managers.

There are 131 curved members in total. The inner area comprises of galvanised CHS framework which is hung off the main rafters to form a curved walkway and to house the Brise Soleil shading system.
